For General Motors. It is critical that the lip of the piston seal not be damaged as the seal is installed into the piston bore. Any nicks or cuts will affect clutch apply pressure and transaxle function. J-46622 is a split ring that protects the 3-5-R seal from damage during installation in the 6T70 transaxle.
