C/K, M/L, S/T Trucks. Correct Shimming of the automatic 4WD clutch pack is critical to the durability of the unit. The clutch pack must be measured within .001" and be shimmed within .012" window. J-44295 includes a plate to mount the clutch pack on, a 10 lb. weight to compress the discs, and a gauge lock to measure with. If correct shimming is not achieved, the clutch pack could be worn out prematurely. Place the clutch pack into the hole on J-44295-1 platform. Then install J-44295-2 onto the clutch pack. Place the J-44295-3 gauge block on one of the legs and over the edge of the weight. The use of a feeler gauge to measure the gap between the gauge block and the weight, will be required. Repeat this step on all three legs. Average the thickness and choose the correct shims to equal this distance. Use a max of two shims.
