Kent-Moore J-33838 Pinion Setting Gauge
For General Motors. Pinion shim selection is crucial during axle overhaul to achieve satisfactory axle life and operation. J-33838 is used on the new 7.25" front axle to select the correct pinion shim for desired axle operation. J-33838 and the pinion bearings are assembled into the axle. The arm for J-33838 is placed into the carrier side bearing bore. Previously essential J-29763 is installed and zeroed on the lowest point. The gauge arm is removed, and the reading indicated on the dial is the needed shim.
