Kent-Moore EN-51701 Flywheel Aligner and Holder
Manual transmission flywheels in ATS, Colorado and Canyon models with LCV, LTG, or LWN engines are dual-mass flywheels, with an Integrated Torque Limiter (ITL). The ITL allows the primary and secondary halves of the flywheel to rotate independently. This independent rotation results in the flywheel bolts being inaccessible through the secondary flywheel half. In order to remove the flywheel bolts, the secondary flywheel half must be turned to align the bolt access holes with the bolts, which could require full rotation due to the assymetrical flywheel bolt mounting pattern. Before the final bolt is loosened, the primary and secondary flywheel halves must be locked together to allow re-installation of the assembly, such as when the rear crankshaft seal is being replaced. If the alignment position is not locked, the halves could snap back against spring pressure in the ITL, and could cause injury. New assemblies are aligned at manufacture.
