Current universal-style lift brackets used on 6.6L diesel engines cause the lift chain to interfere with the front of dash panel, the EGR cooler inlet pipe and turbo, along with other engine components, when lifting the engine.

GM-49397 consists of a bracket 8 inches longer than currently essential GM-36857, and a lift bracket for the A//C compressor mount bracket. These brackets position the lift chain attachment points to prevent interference with all engine components, and to provide better balance during removal and installation. The longer brackets allow the chain attachment points to be moved up and inboard to clear the EGR cooler inlet pipe.
