EN-46335-A allows on-vehicle valve spring service, in both transverse and longitudinal applications. Once the cams and followers are removed from the head, EN-46335-A is engaged into the spring coils, and its compressor is tightened against the valve spring retainer to compress the spring, allowing the keepers to be removed and installed. Clearance in transverse applications is limited because of low clearance to the cowl, so EN-50717 will not fit. EN-46335-A will fit into this limited clearance, and will compress the valve springs to service the springs or valve stem seals. Unapproved methods may damage the springs, or may not allow reassembly.
