The GM-51578 Diagnostic Tool Kit is designed for troubleshooting the Media Oriented Systems Transport (MOST 50) bus in GM vehicles. It includes:

  • Six header connectors with looped circuits
  • One harness connector with looped circuits

These components enable systematic bypassing and isolation of individual modules on the MOST bus, allowing technicians to identify faulty modules without risking damage to terminals or wiring.

As modules are bypassed, the Electronic Control Line (wake-up signal) can be monitored for changes. If a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC), such as U0028, clears during a bypass, the removed module is likely the source of the fault. If bypassing two adjacent modules does not affect the DTC or infotainment symptoms, further inspection of the wiring and connectors is recommended.

This toolkit is essential for accurate root cause analysis when working with Radio DTC U0028 and related data display issues. It helps prevent improper jumper techniques and ensures correct use of twisted pair wiring—critical for maintaining MOST bus integrity.
