The pinion seal on Linamar RDMs used in 2016 Camaro and CT6 models must be instatlled onto the pinion shaft and into the carrier housing at the same time. Exsitng seal installers typically pilot on the sealing lips because the flange competes the seal once it is installed, but this seal seals directly onto the pinion shaft. The flange is installed above the seal, and is not used to seal the RDM. DT-51750 installs the seal correctly, and is used with existing drive J-5590 to install the seal into the correct position. Unapproved methods may damage the seal, causing less than desired service life.
