The countershaft rear bearing requires significant force applied across a wide span for removal, and must be extracted before the countershaft can be removed from the transmission case.

Tool GM-8433, used in conjunction with the previously essential JGM22912-01 Bearing Remover, facilitates removal of the countershaft rear bearing. GM-22912-01 is positioned around the countershaft rear bearing, with its lip placed beneath the bearing. GM-8433 is then attached to GM-22912-01, and its forcing screw is tightened against the countershaft to press the bearing off
