These guide pins (M5) are used to ensure seal covers and pans are installed correctly.

Applications:

  • 2019 Cadillac XT4 with 2.0L-T LSY engine
  • 2019 Silverado and Sierra with 2.7L-T L3B engine

Overview: Many newer engines use M5 fasteners to attach sealing covers. The front and rear crankshaft seals are integrated into these covers and are designed for one-time use only. Proper installation is crucial to prevent damage to the sealant (RTV) or smearing of the sealant beads, which could lead to sealant entering the engine.

Installation Steps:

  1. Prepare the Guide Pins:
    • Screw the GM-52483 guide pins into two of the cover bolt holes.
  2. Align the Cover:
    • Use the guide pins to keep the cover straight as it is positioned.
  3. Install the Cover:
    • Carefully install the cover, ensuring it remains square to avoid damaging the sealant.
  4. Oil Pan Installation:
    • The GM-52483 guide pins also serve as alignment tools for proper oil pan installation, both on and off the vehicle.
