The GM-52446 specialty tool is designed to precisely install the rear crankshaft seal into the rear cover and guide the seal and cover assembly onto the crankshaft's rear.

Features and Components:

  • Seal Installer: Ensures accurate placement of the seal into the cover.
  • Seal Guide: Assists in guiding the seal and cover assembly onto the crankshaft.
  • Assembly Base: Provides a stable platform for the installation process.
  • Hardware: Includes double-ended studs, washers, and long nuts for securing the seal and cover.

Usage Instructions:

  1. Preparation: Secure the assembly base in a vise. Place the seal and cover on top of the base.
  2. Installation: Insert the double-ended studs into the base. Position the installer over the cover and seal, then secure it with washers and long nuts. Tighten to seat the seal into the cover.
  3. Mounting: Remove the hardware from the assembly base and use it to mount the installer guide onto the rear of the crankshaft.
  4. Final Assembly: Install EN-52483 guide studs (sold separately) in place of the cover-retaining bolts. Apply sealant to the cover, guide the seal onto the EN-52446 guide, and align the cover assembly onto the guide studs. Secure the cover to the engine block with fasteners.

Important Note: Unapproved methods may damage the seal or the cover sealant.

Application: Suitable for 2019 and later Silverado/Sierra trucks with 3.0L Diesel engines (RPO LM2).
