General Motors GM-52445 LM2 Camshaft Tool

Application: 2019 and later Silverado/Sierra trucks with 3.0L Diesel (RPO LM2)

The camshafts on the 3.0L Diesel (RPO LM2) engine are housed in a ladder assembly, which is removed and installed as a unit onto the cylinder head. This assembly is secured to the cylinder head with M5 fasteners, which should not be used to draw the ladder assembly onto the cylinder head. The EN‑52445 tool is used with the ladder assembly and includes:

• An alignment bridge to hold the camshafts in the timed position.
• An adjustment plate to secure the camshaft trigger wheel (reluctor) in the timed position.
• A remover and installer plate with hardware.

Setting Timing:

1. Place the adjustment plate on the ends of the camshaft to engage the camshaft trigger wheel.
2. If the camshaft ladder assembly is not being removed, install the bridge over the flats of both the intake and exhaust camshafts and tighten it to the cylinder head.
3. If removing the ladder assembly, install the remover and installer plate into the ladder assembly before attaching the bridge to the camshafts. Fasten the bridge to the remover and installer plate.

Removal and Installation:

• Install the GM-43301 remover handles (sold separately) into the plate. Once the fasteners are removed, the ladder assembly can be taken out.
• Use the GM-43301 handles to position the ladder assembly with the EN-52445 tool in place for installation. Insert the bolts included with the EN-52445 through the plate into the cylinder head and tighten them evenly to seat the ladder assembly.
• Once seated, install the ladder assembly fasteners and set the timing.

Note: Unapproved methods may damage the valve train or cylinder head components.
