General Motors GM-51577 Balancer Holder/Remover

Kent-Moore Tool Number: EN-51577

On AWD models, the PTU must be removed to access the starter, which in turn must be removed to install the flywheel holder, a requirement for balancer removal and installation. Removing the PTU adds a minimum of 2.9 hours to the time needed for replacing a front crankshaft seal. GM-51577 allows the PTU and starter to remain in place for AWD vehicles, thereby avoiding additional labor time. GM-51577 engages the slots on the balancer and holds the balancer as the bolt is removed or torqued. Once the bolt is removed, the existing crankshaft protector GM-38416-2 is installed, along with the remover adapter of GM-51577. The remover forcing screw is tightened against GM-38416-2 to remove the balancer.

Used on 2.0L and 2.5L
