Application: Driveshafts on upcoming AWD vehicles, including Equinox, Terrain, XT5, Acadia, and Envision models.

Description: The driveshafts on these AWD vehicles are secured by a retaining clip inside the splines, which locks onto the PTU (Power Transfer Unit) or RDM (Rear Drive Module) splined shaft. To release the retaining ring, a significant force must be applied suddenly. The current retention force of the PTU is 350-450N, with the potential to increase.

  • Damage Prevention: Attempts to pry the driveshaft off the PTU or RDM can damage the driveshaft. The DT-51329-A tool is designed to prevent such damage.
  • Precise Fit: The tool fits into the groove provided on the prop shafts of the specified models.
  • Compatibility: The previously essential J-02619-A slide hammer was used to unseat the snap ring.
  • Secure Attachment: The tool attaches around the prop shaft, and its two halves are tightened to seat it into the groove.
  • Efficient Removal: The slide hammer is then attached to remove the prop shaft with a removal force of 2000-6000N at 50mm/min.
