General Motors GM-50905 Clutch Air Travel Fixture

The GM-50905 Clutch Air Travel Fixture is a precision-machined arbor fixture with dual air passages designed to test the travel of 8L45 and 8L90 clutch pack assemblies (23468 and 45678). This tool ensures accurate performance checks by applying air pressure to the clutch pack assemblies.
Key Features and Usage:
- Assembly Process:
- The clutch pack is placed onto the GM-50905-1 Fixture.
- The assembly is positioned in the counter bore of the GM-50900 Clutch Travel Support Fixture's bottom plate.
- The GM-50900 Forcing Screw is tightened until the GM-50903 Load Gauge displays the correct load, flattening the pack assembly and expelling any trapped air.
- Measurement and Adjustment:
- The J-8001 Dial Indicator is mounted on the GM-50900 Fixture, with the plunger set to zero against the clutch pack.
- Supplied via shop pressure, air is fed into one of GM-50905's two ports.
- The resulting travel dimension, as shown on the dial indicator, is measured and compared to the SI specifications.
- The pack disc assembly is then secured within the clutch hub by a selective retaining ring of the appropriate thickness.
