The GM-50793 Camshaft Actuator Retainer is a specialty tool designed for servicing both the intake and exhaust camshafts in the exhaust cam position. It ensures that the camshaft-to-actuator position is held securely to prevent the timing chain from jumping on the actuator. This tool engages the slots in the face of the actuator and bolts to the cylinder head and cover, allowing the actuator bolt to be removed or installed without damaging the actuator internally.

This tool is used explicitly for 2.0L (LTG) and 2.5L (LCV) engines, commonly found in various models such as the Chevrolet Malibu, Cadillac ATS, and Buick Regal.
