2001-Later C/K truck with ZF 6 - Speed manual transmission The input shaft oil seal on the ZF 6-Speed manual transmission is installed in its bore to a specific depth, and has no bottom land in bore. The input shaft oil seal is also sealing tightly against the input shaft. Improper removal methods may force the input shaft oil seal into the transmission, resulting in unnecessary repair time.
GM-44748 is designed so that the input shaft oil seal can be removed from the transmission without disassembling the unit. The lip of GM-44748 is placed between the seal and the input shaft. GM-444748 is rolled up against the input shaft to engage its lip behind the seal, and used with previously essential GM-23907 slide hammer to remove the seal
