General Motors GM-44226-5 Crankshaft Protector

The balancer design on SGE family engines is smaller than previous GM engines, and has minimal clearance between the front cover and the inside of the balancer where a puller fits. Previously Essential GM-44226 Balancer Remover fits between the cover and balancer to provide full engagement for removal, but does not have a protector that will fit the end of the crankshaft. GM-44226-5 fits the end of the crankshaft, providing a surface for GM-44226 to react against to remove the balancer. Unapproved methods may damage the crankshaft or balancer.
