Corvette Rear Drive Modules must have the limited slip clutch pack compressed to remove the differential pinion shaft from the case. Getrag RDMs through MY2013 use GM-42162 to service the mechanical limited slip clutch, as well as to protect the splined shaft and pinion cartridge as a press protector during bearing removal. GM-42162 is approximately 1.5 mm too small on the ID to work on MY2014 Linamar RDMs. The ID on GM-42162 can be increased using a hand-held die grinder to allow existing tools to work on all years Corvette RDMs. Future dealers will receive DT-42160-A, along with dealers who do not wish to make this modification. DT-42162-A will service all years of Corvette RDM.
