Applications: 2014 C/K Silverado/Sierra with 4.3L V6 or 5.3L/6.2L V8 engines

The rear crankshaft seal on Gen V V6/V8 engines is installed in the opposite orientation compared to Gen IV engines. As a result, the existing installer tool (GM-41479-B) is incompatible with the new seal.

The GM-41479-10 adapter is specifically designed to fit the new seal and works in conjunction with the GM-41479-B tool. This combination enables the proper installation of the rear crankshaft seal without requiring the removal of the rear cover, which would otherwise necessitate the removal of the oil pan.

To install the seal, the GM-41479-10 adapter and the new seal are placed at the rear of the crankshaft and piloted into the bore. The GM-41479-B tool is then attached to the crankshaft and used with the adapter to seat the seal correctly.

Note: The use of unauthorized installation methods may cause damage to the seal, rear cover, or crankshaft.
