Fuel Pressure Testing – 1996–2000 FLEXIBLE FUEL S/T Truck (2.2L L43/LNZ)
Tool: GM-34730-FF – Alcohol-Resistant Fuel Pressure Gauge Assembly

This tool is designed to measure fuel pressure in flexible fuel systems and features alcohol-resistant components, including the gauge, hoses, valves, and fittings.

⚠️ Important:
Do not use GM-34730-1A (gasoline-only version) on flex-fuel systems. Exposure to alcohol or mixed fuels may damage the tool.

🔧 Test Procedure

  1. Connect the long hose of the GM-34730-FF assembly to the fuel pressure test fitting (Schrader valve) located on the fuel rail between injectors #3 and #4.
  2. Activate the fuel pump by either:
    • Starting the engine, or
    • Using a scan tool to energize the pump.
  3. Bleed air from the gauge hose using the small petcock valve.
  4. Observe fuel system pressure while the pump is running.
  5. Monitor fuel pressure leakdown after the pump stops.

🧪 Additional Use

GM-34730-FF can also be used to obtain fuel samples from the rail for ethanol content testing with the GM-44175 Ethanol Fuel/Flex Fuel Sensor Tester.
