At the same time, the cylinder head is removed from GM I4, I5, and I6 engines. This tool prevents the lower timing gear tensioner from extending, which would otherwise necessitate disassembling the lower part of the engine, significantly increasing labor time.

Usage Instructions:

  • Follow Repair Bulletin: To use the Lower Timing Gear Tensioner Holding Tool properly, follow the repair instructions outlined in Bulletin 06-06-01-17C. Failure to correctly insert and secure the tool as instructed can result in the timing chain tensioner ratcheting out, requiring additional repair steps not covered by the warranty.
